Service · Door 04 · The retainer

When your old agency stopped picking up.

Most agency relationships fail the same way: the project goes live, you pay the retainer, and at some point your emails start landing in someone's "I'll get to that" pile. Six months later you're emailing a ticketing system that auto-replies with an SLA you don't recognise. We don't operate like that — and the retainer is structured deliberately to make sure we can't.

01 · What this actually is

A monthly retainer for the things you'd otherwise be juggling alone.

Care & Iteration is a flat-fee monthly engagement. You get a defined block of hours per month for edits, additions, fixes, design iteration, and small new features — plus AI-visibility monitoring on top. Anything time-boxed and bounded is included. Anything genuinely large (a major new section, a new product flow, a redesign) gets quoted as project work, separately.

What you don't get: a ticket queue, a junior account manager, an SLA written in legalese to protect us from you. Replies come from the person who built your site. In practice that means within hours during working days. That's not a metric we tracked into a contract — it's what's possible because the operation is small and we built the thing, so context-switch cost is near zero.

"The actual person who built this answers the phone."

02 · What's included

Three categories of work, all in the monthly fee.

Content edits

Anything from "fix this typo" to "swap out the homepage hero" to "add a new team member". Sent by email, Slack, or the channel of your choice. Edits typically land within hours of the request, often the same working day. There's no ticketing system to navigate.

Design iteration

Tweaks to layout, spacing, typography, imagery, sections — the small adjustments every site needs in its first 6–18 months as you figure out what's working. New sections (a press page, a press release, a new gallery) handled here too if they're bounded in scope.

AI-visibility monitoring

The full monitoring service (multi-provider scans, weekly reports, recommended interventions) is bundled. You don't pay extra for it on top of Care. If you stop the retainer, the monitoring lifts to its standalone £149/mo rate; while you're on Care, it's included.

Quarterly review call

Every three months, a 30-minute call to review what's changed, what's working, what should be next. Not a sales call. Not a status meeting. A real review of the site's trajectory and what to do in the next quarter.

03 · Pricing tiers

Three sizes. Pick the one that matches your edit volume.

£450
per month
  • Up to 4 hours of edits / iteration per month
  • Same-day response in working hours
  • AI-visibility monitoring (single site)

£850
per month
  • Up to 10 hours per month
  • Same-day response in working hours
  • AI-visibility monitoring (up to 3 sites)
  • Monthly review call
  • One short article per month included

Care · Heavy

£1,650

  • Priority response (within 4 working hours)
  • AI-visibility monitoring (up to 3 sites)
  • Bi-weekly check-in call
  • Two articles per month included

Unused hours don't roll over (otherwise it stops being a retainer and starts being a banked-hours arrangement). Hours genuinely run out occasionally — when they do, anything additional gets quoted at the relevant project rate or rolls into the next month, your call.

04 · Cancellation policy

30 days notice. That's it.

No annual contract. No cancellation fee. No clawback if you decide it's not working out. Email, give 30 days notice, we wind things down cleanly: hand over deploy access, transfer DNS if needed, finalise any in-flight edits, archive the monitoring data.

Most clients stay on Care because the alternative — taking site care in-house, or going back to a generalist agency — is more expensive and usually slower. But the option to leave is always there, and we've never had a client try to.

Done with email queues that go nowhere?

Email us with a link to your site and a sentence about what kind of edits you typically need. We'll suggest a tier and start when you're ready. No setup fee, no contract minimum.
